July daily prayer

31 July 2020

DAY  5

        Isaiah 40 v 31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength ; they shall mount up with wings as eagles ; they shall run , and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

While we wait upon the Lord there will be storms but in these storms the lord will raise a standard so that we are not caught up.
We will be able to focus on Jesus Christ and Him alone and there shall be no fear.

We will be lifted up above all the storms that may bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment into our lives.

1. If we wait upon the LORD  , He continues to strengthen us and to lift us up above the storms our lives .

2.God strengthens us through all the trials during the time of our waiting.

3.If we rely on our own strength we will be unable to rise above our circumstances.

4.Only the power from above can be a sufficient shield in the storms of our lives.

5.Only God's protective  hand can shelter us from the storms of life not our own  limited , human abilities .

6.It is faith in His Word that is needed so that we can soar with wings as eagles.

7.It is trusting God to bring to pass all His promises.

1.  Pray that God continues to lift us up so that we soar above the  storms which we are facing.

2. Pray that God renews our strength in these storms.

God again says we all have sinned and come short of His glory.
Romans 3:23

DAY 2

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Brethren, when you have said "Yes" to Christ who put His Father first in all that He did , you begin to imitate Him. Your life begins to reflect the life of Christ .
You will seek to  submit to the will of God , spend time with Him in prayer , serving others etc. and you think of yourself less. "

Not my will , but your will Lord ! Not for my glory , but for your glory , Lord.

For the advancement of your Christian  life , you begin to bear burdens for one another and also make sacrifices for one another.
The center of your life begins to change .
You will imitate Christ who never had interest on earthly things except to fulfill the will of His Father, which He did up to the day He was led to the cross.

The secret of a happy life as a Christian is starting your  day with God by prayer and also to every decision we must put God first.

Also let us try as much as possible to give God  priority in everything we do.

As God is exalted to the right place in our lives many problems are solved.

But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness  , and all these things shall be added unto you.(Matt . 6 : 33 )

Pray that God helps us put aside the old man who  is being corrupted in accordance with our deceitful desires.

We pray that we be renewed  in the spirit of our minds  and put on the new self , which after God is created in  righteousness  and true holiness.
Ephesians 4 v 24

How we can evaluate our Spiritual lives.

Psalm 139 v 23 and 24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

As Christians self assessment becomes an increasingly important part of our faith as we grow and mature spiritually.
Regular reflection of how we are performing in accordance with our faith and what steps we need to take to remedy any areas of weakness helps us become stronger spiritually.

It also enables us to tackle problems before they get out of control.
God encourages us  in His word to look inward in order to identify our areas of weakness so that we can address these through Him.

2 Corrinthians 13 v 5
5 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified.

Lamentations 3 v 40
40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.

Prayer Points.

Let us pray that:
1. God reveals to us all our sins, weaknesses and limitations.
2. GOD restores our faith and trust in Him.
3. God continues to lead us in a life of obedience to His commands.
4. God may renew our minds and cleanse our hearts from all unrighteousness.
5. God grants us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in His word.

Galatians 6:8 - “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life”.

Reflection: At the beginning of the week I spoke about membership within the body of Christ. Towards the end of the week I spoke about being a Child of God and living according to the Fathers Will. One may ask-
_“Why do you need to do all this ?”_This verse would be the answer.

Brethren, by honouring the Body of Christ through loving one another as members , by honouring our status as Children of God, we fulfil Gods will of turning away from the things of the word and focusing on him .

Paul explains how these actions lead to eternal life. If we have eternal life we can continue having fellowship with one another , it doesn’t have to stop here. We can continue to have a relationship with the father , it doesn’t have to stop here.

The Father has already prepared that city for us (Hebrews 11: 16) , so may we find ourselves in that city when the time comes.

*Prayer/Devotional *

I Thank you Heavenly Father for the gift of eternal life that you have freely given us. I proclaim Lord that I will be found in that city along with my fellow members. In Jesus name , Amen.

Brethren I pray that we never forget why we do what we do as Christians . I pray that we don’t dwell much in the things of this temporary world, life and body but we focus on the permanent - eternal life , our relationship with God and the Body of Christ.

25 July

1 John 2 : 15-17 - Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

Reflection: Love for our Heavenly Father cannot only be portrayed through words we must also put it to action (James 1:22-27).

Here John talks about how our love for the father can be shown , through leaving behind the things of the world and focusing our Christian walk.

Just as an earthly father God wants the best for us. His will is what is best for us and we can only fully live by his will if we turn away from the things of the world.

When we turn our lives to Christ we become a new creation , the old is past away and we are born again . The Fathers Will is clear in regards to what he expects from us as his children .

I Thank you Lord for being my Heavenly Father and giving me the tools to be able to live according to your will . I Thank you Lord for guiding me on this righteous path that allows me to have a relationship with you and that guarantees me eternal life- in Jesus name , Amen.

May God help us as we strive to live according to the will of our Heavenly Father. I pray that we we overcome the temptation that comes with his world and instead have our full focus on the Lord .

24 July

Matthew 6:9 - “ Pray then in this way, Our Father in heaven , hallowed be thy name..”

*Reflection: *
Firstly when we say we are Children of God we need to believe it by the way we see God. The most important words in this verse are “Our Father” - I believe God uses these words because we wants us to grasp the love and care he has for us and how deeply he wants us to have a relationship with him.

Nothing with God is a mistake, he created this world, put us in it and made us in his likeness all because he wants us to be here as his children. This should make us see everything about our lives in a different way . There is no need for you to feel alone , unwanted , worried and fearful because we have a Father that is in control . A Father that knows the reason behind putting us on this earth . Let us trust our Father and leave everything in his capable hands.

Lastly, God has many children so let us be mindful of that when interacting with one another ( going back to the topic of Day1), hence why the prayer is “Our Father” not “My Father”.

*Prayer/Devotional: *

Thank you Lord for being my Heavenly Father , who loves and cares for me. I proclaim that I am yours and you are mine. I proclaim that I will trust you as my Father in all aspects of my life. In Jesus name, Amen.

I pray that as we journey through this Christian walk we always acknowledge that the Lord is our Father, in the good and in the bad. He wants us to have a relationship with him so much, let us not forget that Brethren.

23 July

1 John 5:1-* “ Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well."*

Reflection :
Identity is a real issue within society today.   Men, women , boys and girls all over the world want to know who they are. People searching for this information usually run to the world to get their answer when in fact the answer for their query is found in (1 John 5:1), and many other verses within the bible.

Question : Who Am I ?
Answer : A Child of God , you have been given an identity through Christ Jesus. You were created by God your Heavenly Father who loves and cares for you and wants a relationship with you.

This may seem like common sense for many of us, but we often forget who we are in the midst of struggle and turmoil. Forgetting your identity can be very dangerous Brethren, let us not be caught off guard in this area. Know what God says about you, believe it and affirm it.

*Prayer/Devotional: *

“ Thank you Jesus that you have redeemed me. I proclaim that because of my relationship  with God the Father I know who I am. I proclaim that I am a child of Child of God- in Jesus name, Amen.

I pray that we believe that we are Children of God and that we understand the privileges , blessings and honour that comes with this.

22 July

*Day 3: We Need One Another *

*(1 Corinthians 12:27) *
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it”.

The other factor that does arise when we look at this passage is that as Christians, we are all interdependent and we all need one another . In both Corinthians and Ephesians Paul speaks about Christians in Plural .

We cannot cohesively work together if we don’t see the ‘need’ for one another. Neither can we bring glory to the Kingdom of God if feel like I can do without my fellow member.

Ephesians 6:10-18 - Paul talks about spiritual warfare . Spiritual Warfare is not a battle amongst individuals but instead a war between opposing armies. There is no room for “lone rangers” pursuing their individual goals. We can only attain victory if we see the need for one another as crucial members in the body of Christ

*Prayer points/ Devotional *

“Thank you Jesus for making me a member of your body. I proclaim that I am not alone.

I proclaim that I will the need for my fellow members - as this is the only way we will be able to bring glory to Gods Kingdom and be victorious against the enemy - In Jesus name, Amen”.

21 July

(Romans 12 : 3 - 8)

3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

*Reflection : *
When we synchronise our minds to the spirit of God our place and purpose within the Church becomes clear . As members of the church we all have a role to play , there is no role too small or big for the Lord. Whatever role you have been placed in by God honour it . As a church we must welcome diversity when it comes to roles and gifts within the Body of Christ , as long as they’re operating using a renewed mind.

When differences in roles/gifts come about within the church let us welcome them with open arms as that is what the Lord wants for his kingdom. We must work together as a church to nurture and honour, all gifts of the spirit given to us by Christ , as members of his Body.

*Prayer points/Devotionals *

“ Thank You, Jesus, for making me a part of Your body. I proclaim I will use my renewed mind to work with my fellow members in the church . I proclaim I will honour the gift you have given me . I will welcome the gifts you have blessed my fellow members with -In Jesus name Amen”

Let us pray that as members of the body of Christ, that we will work together to bring about Glory and Honour to the Kingdom of God.

20 July 2020

*1 Corinthians 12 vs 12-14: *

12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with *Christ. 13 For we were all baptised by one Spirit so as to *form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free —and we **were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not *made up of one part but of many. *

Reflection: In this chapter Paul talks of the diversity and unity that is within the church. How we all play an important role within the church. He uses the human body as an example e.g ‘the foot cannot function without the head’. This principle is  true for the members of Christ’s body .

We need one another . We depend on one another . When one suffers I also suffer. When one rejoices I also rejoice.

I thank God that as Leeds BICC we are a family church and we have great love for one another. But , we know that Satan hates unity and will use many tools to divide us . Therefore we must be alert and remain knit together in the body of Christ .

*Prayer points/Devotionals : *

“ I thank you Lord for making me part of your body. I proclaim that I will remain united with my fellow brethren - I will honour them and uplift them - for I am a member of the Body of Christ”.

Brethren let us pray that we continue to pray for one another , check up on each other , rebuke each other (if the need be) and most importantly LOVE one another. As when we are unified we can do great things for the kingdom of God.

In the might name of Jesus . Amen

Rejoice in everything
Day 6

1 Thessalonians 5:16‭-‬18
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Psalms 91:7‭, ‬9‭-‬10 "A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge, and you make the Most High your dwelling,  no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent."

We all have recently witnessed the hand of God on us one way or the other.  Many have fallen through this Pandemic, we have survived not because of our wisdom nor following health directives but because of the blood that was shed at Calvary. We now have a choice to glorify His goodness or to exalt ourselves. Philippians 4:4‭-‬5 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Mark 5:19 "Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”

Philippians 4v6-7
Chronicles 16v34
Psalm 28v7
Galatians 6v9

Paryer points.

Pray that we lift His name higher rather than ours.

Pray that we acknowledge His goodness in everything.

Pray that we testify His mercy to the multitudes for His promises are yes and Amen ?

Reminding God!!!
Day 5

Isaiah 38:1‭-‬5
"In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”  Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord , “ Remember , Lord , how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.  Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord , the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life."

Very much inspired by this chapter,  Hezekiah REMINDED God of the good things he had done,  and God immediately answered his prayer and extended his life span. In reflection, the biggest question of them all when we find ourselves in a similar situation is what are we going to remind God in order for Him to have mercy on us? It's not too late if there is nothing pleasing before the eyes of the Lord to remind Him, Isaiah 55:6 "Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near."

Psalm 34v8
Nahum 1v7
Isaiah 40v29
Psalm 23v4
John 8v12

 Prayer Points
Pray that God hears our prayers.

Pray that we may find Him while He is near.

Pray that whatever we remind Him will be worthy for His mercy.

All in God's time .
Day 4

Proverbs 16:9 "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Saul's army was once tormented by the giant Goliath for forty days before David(then a shepherd) finally defeated him. David kept his composure, focus and  trust in God when facing Goliath. It was only at God's time that David only needed one opportunity and one stone to struck dead Goliath on the forehead. Isaiah 60v22 "when time is right, l the Lord will make it happen" God's time may seem a long desperate wait that many end up giving up, by so doing, a window of opportunity maybe missed. Therefore prayer without ceasing will  help us not to miss God's opportunity. 1Thessalonians 5:18 "Never give up In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Ecclesiastes 3v1
Proverbs 27v1
Jeremiah  29v11-12
Lamentations 3v25-26

Prayer Points

Pray that we maybe patient for God's time in everything we do.

Pray for us to acknowledge God's perfect timing.

Pray for the present  times that we may not fall short of the glory of the Lord.

You are not alone!!!

Jesus never promised us life without trials and tribulations we experiencing today which is why He left us with the Comforter(Holy Spirit). The Israelites were guided by the cloud ☁️ from the Egyptians,  it led them to the dead end at the red sea, some with little faith doubted the power of God at that time. Many of us are facing dead ends today, l don't know what your dead end is but He says in Deuteronomy 31v6 "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." We  were also promised a Comforter by Jesus in John 16v7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you." The same God that parted the red sea for the Israelites is still the same God who can meet your needs at your dead end. He says "If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." John 14:14

John 14v26
Joshua 1v9
Isaiah 30v21
Proverbs 3v5-6

Heavenly Father,  thank you for not leaving us alone, even at our dead end you are there to move  our mountains ⛰. Help us to keep our hearts clean and pure for your sake, in Jesus name, Amen ?

What does Jesus say about humility?

Humility is the quality of being humble, putting the needs of another person before your own, and thinking of others before yourself. It also means not drawing attention to yourself, but acknowledging that you are not always right.
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. (James 4v10) This makes it clear, God will never lift you up if not humble before Him. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 "and My people who are called by My name HUMBLE themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land". Sometimes we tend to think God is silent to our prayers but here He makes it clear one of the conditions for Him to respond is to humble ourselves first. He humbled Himself on the Cross for me and you to be saved.

Psalm 25v9
Proverbs 15v33
Ephesians 4v2
Luke 14v11
1  Peter 5v6
Proverbs 11v2

Father God,  help us to decree and you increase in every aspect of our life. Help us not to exalt ourselves in order for you to speak to us. Help us to shred away pride which limits our direct communication with you in Jesus name Amen.

Power of your tongue!!!
Day 1

As lockdown is nearly over, many people are going back to work,  students are looking forward for the beginning of the next academic year, sadly, not everyone will be resuming their work due to the effects of pandemic. Many will be made redundant and their plans and financial commitments remains in limbo. It is at this point where we have to safeguard our interactions with our friends, colleagues and class mates. Proverbs 18v 21 "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat it's fruit". Many souls are crushed by our tongues. Let's be mindful and speak life to one onother especially now that a sudden change in lifestyle is experienced by many. Proverbs 21:23 says “He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity" Words said can not be retracted therefore, let everything that proceeds through our mouth be of value to someone's spirit. How can we be Chrst like if our  tongue is deceitful, swears, gossips and crushes souls? Let's reflect and acknowledge our ignorance in things we have said that are not pleasing or glorifying  God.

James 3v8-12
Ephesians 4v29
Proverbs 26v20
Proverbs 11v17

 Prayer Points

Pray that we be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to anger.

Pray for words of wisdom to proceed through our tongues.

Pray that we safeguard our tongues from destroying our beloved ones, our children and neighbours.

And finally pray for God to tame our tongues. We pray that God help us to enjoy the fruits of our tongues. Amen ?

11 July 2020

Day 6

Joshua 21:45 ‘Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.’

Key lyrics: And all that is left is highest praises, sing hallelujah to the Rock of Ages

Reflection: We can trust God before and even during trials to bring forth a testimony that bring glory to His Kingdom. We can, in the midst of troubles, know that we will look back on those moments and see God’s hand on it. He is our portion when there isn’t enough, because our God did not fail. That is the story we will tell.

Prayer: My God, you have never failed me. Even in uncertain circumstances, I know it is well. I will trust you in the process, and your provision and help is the story I will tell.

10 July 2020

Day 5
Luke 19:38-40 38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

Key lyrics: If the stars were made to worship so will I, if the mountains bow in reverence so will I.

Reflection: This is a song of total surrender. You see, God does not need our praise, without us His creation still roars in honour of Him! We worship and praise because we see, we realise who He is. He is unfathomable, He is everything. Every fibre of our being praises, because how else could we possibly respond to such love, such majesty, such glory?

Prayer: Lord, if everything exists to lift You high, so will I. Father, I give all of myself in praise of Your mighty Name.

9 July 2020

Day 4
Daniel 3:25 ‘He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”’

Key lyrics: There is no other name than the name that is Jesus and I know I will never be alone.

Reflection: Imagine King Nebuchadnezzar’s shock! Well, the enemy is just as shocked, everyday as Jesus stands beside us in the trials of this life. We are not alone in the fire, the enemy can see the Son of God with us, as we walk unrestrained and unharmed. Jesus is with us, as in right here! How amazing is that?

Prayer: Lord, I can see the light in the darkness as it bows to You. Thank you that I am never alone.

8 July 2020

Day 3
1 John 3:1 ‘The Father has loved us so much that we are called children of God. And we really are his children.’

Key lyrics: You rescued me so I could stand and sing that I am a child of God.

Reflection: We all need to be reminded of our identity in Christ sometimes. How amazing that, God, the Author of the universe, chose us before we were even a thought to be His children. To have relationship with Him and to know Him as our Father. When life overwhelms, we can forget that ultimately, we have the greatest father in the universe.

Prayer: Let us sit in the lyrics of this song and be reminded that we are surrounded by the arms of our Father. Thank the Lord for the gift of adoption into His family, thank you for the freedom from slavery to fear, just thank you!

7 July 2020

Day 2
2 Corinthians 1:20 ‘For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.’

Key lyrics: Faithful you are, faithful forever you will be, all your promises are Yes and Amen

Reflection: Regardless of situation or circumstance that God will keep all the promises He has made. For so long as we rest in His promises and follow His Word, we can have absolute confidence in God’s redemption, salvation and faithfulness.

Prayer: Let us thank the Lord for His faithfulness, that His promises are yes and amen. That the entire story of history, is God drawing us to Himself, what a faithful God we serve!

6 July 2020

Day 1
Luke 10:38-39 ‘As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.’

Reflection: Sung worship brings about profound encounter with God for me. So, this week I will share some songs that speak God’s truth and affirm His majesty! Today, we reflect that when God walks into the room, EVERYTHING changes. He is joy, He is love, He is perfect – and upon encountering Him we can do nothing but sit at His feet and worship.

Prayer: Take some time to sit quietly at God’s feet, listen to the truth of this song and marvel at our awesome God. Pray that God speaks to you as you sit quietly, and that you may receive new revelation!

Key lyrics: We love You, we'll never stop, we can't live without You, Jesus!

Day 6
Lead Us not into temptation but Deliver us from evil(Matt 6v13,Luke 11v4)
This World we are living in is full of temptations, trials and tribulation and we need to be on our guard and consistently pray for protection .Luke 22 vs 40 Jesus told his Disciples to “pray that ye enter not into temptation ” We need to pray for the Holy Spirit to shield us and protect us from the Devil who is the instrument of temptation as we on our own can not manage(Rom 8 v26-27)(Gal 5v16) .Jesus  used the WORD and fervent Prayer  to resist temptation .Let us stay in the WORD(read the Bible and meditate on it)if we are to overcome(Eph 6 v17).Knowing and having Faith in GOD will help us shy away from temptation .As we draw towards the end of the Lord’s Prayer the devil is on the prowl to make light of our prayers ,remember  he seeks to steal ,kill and destroy(John 10v10)

Our GOD is a graceful  and merciful Father  who forgives our Sins .Even the Son after being abused ,tortured and humiliated prayed to the FATHER asking him to forgive his tormentors(Luke23v 34).GOD is promising to forgive our Sins IF we forgive those who sin against us. ’’Judge not and you will not be judged ,forgive and you’ll be forgiven’’Luke6v37,   ”If you forgive men their trespasses ,your Heavenly FATHER will also forgive you ,but if you forgive not men their trespasses neither will your FATHER forgive your trespasses .”Matt 6 vs14-15.Read also 2 Corint 2 v10, 1John 1v9.Let  us be careful Brethren not to miss GOD’s Kingdom by holding on to Grudges over things past

3,that as individuals ,as groups and as Christians we  strive to Act  like Jesus who set an example of forgiving even to those who threatened and eventually crucified him.
